Voltage and coil resistance and all that.

So what is all this voltage and coil resistance ,
There are lots of things that effect how your device vapes, not only the coil voltage and resistance but the wick material and coil design but Ultimately it all boils down to how much power your coil is using to convert electricity into heat.

Picture
This is a typical coil in your atomiser,
The wick in the middle of the coil is saturated in e-liquid and when the coil heats up, it turns the liquid into vapour.
How much vapour it produces depends on how much heat the coil produces, but be carefull, too much heat and the liquid gets spoiled and cant wick as fast as it vapourises and so the wick gets burnt instead, This is called a Dry hit.

The heat of your coil depends on the power consumption (measured in watts), more watts means more heat.

So what has this to do with voltage and coil resistance ?

answer : Everything, in electronics this is called ohm law , its the fundamental equation on which all electronics are built.

It looks like this
Picture
Power is equal to the current (speed of electron flow) multiplied by Voltage.
current is equal to voltage divided by resistance.
So lower resistance coil= greater current= Greater power (hotter coil)
Higher voltage = higher power .

So if we want the coil to use more power then we use a lower resistance coil, or greater voltage.
if we want the coil to use less power then we use a higher resistance coil or lower voltage.

Variable voltage batteries

Many batteries we sell have variable voltage, this allows you to fine tune how your atomiser preforms while using it,
you may want to adjust it as your coil ages, then it gets a carbon coating and does not perform as good at the same power, or you may just be in a different mood for a different kind of vape.
Some batteries such as the Coolfire 1 that we sell has a fixed wattage which means it should perform the same regardless of what coil you use.
The less power you use , then the less vapour you produce, but generally the more flavour you will taste.
You will learn, which power performs best for your juice, as different juice may taste better and produce better vapour at different power levels.
This chart is a good general starting point to help find that Sweet spot.
Picture
Generally if you stay in the green zone, you will get the all round best balance between flavour, vapour and battery life.
Its not a rule, just a guide as some people prefer to vape at much higher power, but this generally requires mechanical mods and rebuild able atomisers using specially built coils and wicks.
Most of the major manufacturers products that we sell will work best in the green zone of the chart e.g Kanger pro-tank.
Ultimately though it comes down to personal taste and many people experiment with there equipment, the term mod of course is short for modifications, a scene in which people tinker with and design there own equipment.
At Zen vapour we sell products for all tastes, and we are happy to advise which products suit you best, you can be confident that you will have a great performing product that will give you a satisfying experience in the e-cig world.
